Abbiamo il piacere di presentare ai nostri lettori la giovanissima Venus Ferrari, una cantante (modella) inglese che temporaneamente vive in Italia e che del suo futuro sa cosa ne vuol fare. Come potrete notare l’intervista è stata realizzata in doppia lingua, italiano ed inglese. Intervista molto lunga con risposte molto pensate e posate… Come abbiamo scritto nel titolo, Venus ha un carattere molto simile a quello meridionale e oltre a cantare e a posare che cosa si desidera di più o come dicono i nostri amici anglosassoni riprendendola da una pubblicità di George Cloney, what else? Ringraziamo Venus per questa lunghissima intervista. Invitiamo i lettori di Nonsolomodanews di ascoltare i lavori musicali di Venus che sono veramente belli (e non è una frase di circostanza) auguriamo ai nostri lettori buona lettura.
We have the pleasure to introduce to our readers the very young Venus Ferrari, an English singer (model) who temporarily lives in Italy and that of her future knows what she wants to do. As you can see the interview was made in double language, Italian and English. Very long interview with very thought out answers and clarity… As we wrote in the title, Venus has a character very similar to the people of South Italy and besides singing and posing what you want more or as our Anglo-Saxon friends say, taking it from an advertisement of George Cloney, what else? We thank Venus for this very long interview. Benvenuta su Nonsolomodanews, ti vuoi presentare? “Io sono Venus Ferrari. Cantante, Songwriter, Chitarrista, Pianista e Fotomodella – nata a Londra nel 1996. Sono alta 1.69, misure 86-65-84, scarpa 39, capelli corti viola e occhi azzurri”.
Welcome to <<Nonsolomodanews>> please introduce yourself. “I am Venus Ferrari. Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Pianist and Model – I was born in London in 1996. I am 1.69 tall, measurements 86-65-84, shoes size 39, I have short Purple Hair and Blue eyes”.
Come sei di carattere? “Sono una gran ribelle, odio le regole e non le considero per niente, sono determinata, carica e ci metto il cuore in ogni cosa che faccio. Tanti mi dicono che ho un carattere poco inglese e invece molto meridionale, e questo lo prendo sempre come un complimento. Sono estroversa e selvaggia che sia su un palco o davanti alla fotocamera”.
What are you like Character-wise? “I’m a Huge Rebel, I hate rules and I don’t follow them. I am determined, energetic and everything I do I do with all my heart. Lots of people tell me I have a very southern character more than an English one, and I always take this as a compliment. I am extroverted and wild whether it’s on a stage or in front of a photo-camera”.
Ti consideri una persona determinata? “Sì anche troppo determinata, ho obbiettivi precisi e molto chiari e non mi fermo davanti a nulla per ottenerli. Mi ritengo una persona molto ambiziosa e credo sia giusto lottare per realizzare i propri sogni e vivere una vita meravigliosa invece di accettare la mediocrità di qualunque compromesso. Senza limiti, senza compromessi e con tanta determinazione credo che chiunque può arrivare agli obbiettivi che si è posto”.
Do you consider yourself a determined person? “Yes, even too much so. I have very specific and clear goals and I won’t stop at anything to reach them. I consider myself a very ambitious person and I believe it’s right to fight to realise one’s dreams and to live a wonderful life, instead of accepting the mediocrity of any kind of compromise. With no limits, no compromises and plenty of determination I think anyone can achieve the goals they’ve set out for themselves”.
Tu sei inglese, quali sono le cose che ti mancano del tuo paese di origine? “Un po’ tutto sinceramente, però sopratutto – i treni in orario! E poi anche Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Sainsburys e tutte le catene di ristoranti e negozi che non si trovano in Italia per ora”.
You are English, what are some things that you miss about your Country? “A lot of things, but above all – Trains that are on time. And also Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Costa Coffe, Sainsburys and all the other food and supermarket chains that aren’t available in Italy”.
Quando hai iniziato a posare, ti ricordi la prima volta? “Il primo shooting fotografico che ho fatto era per una mia band tempo fa ormai ed era lì che ho capito che oltre alla musica, mi trovavo molto bene davanti l’obbiettivo anche in veste di Modella. Da lì ho deciso di intraprendere la strada parallela di fare la modella e adesso è diventato il mio lavoro e mi da molte soddisfazioni”.
When did you start posing, do you remember the first time? “My first photoshoot was with one of my bands quite some time ago, and it was then that I realised that along with music, I also was very comfortable as a Model in front of the camera. From then onwards I decided to follow the parallel path of modelling and now it’s become my Job and it gives me a lot of satisfaction”.
Quali sono i generi fotografici che preferisci e perchè? “Il mio genere fotografico preferito è il ritratto, meglio se è ambientato; foto che parlano e raccontano della persona fotografata, che trasmettono personalità e vita. Più che un genere specifico, amo le foto che dicono qualcosa o trasmettono un’emozione, oppure colpiscono per la loro originalità e creatività. Tutti i generi possono essere interessanti se approcciato nel modo giusto”.
What are your favourite photographic genres and why? “My favourite genre is Portraiture, especially if it’s in a cool location; Photos that speak to you and tell you something about the person in the photograph, that transmit personality and life. It’s not really about a specific genre; I love photos that say something to me, that express an emotion or strike me with their originality and creativity. All genres can be interesting if they are approached in the right way”.
Tu sei una cantante, ci racconti come ti sei avvicinata alla musica? “La musica è sempre stata una cosa fondamentale nella mia vita. Ho iniziato a suonare il pianoforte a cinque anni, e poco dopo ho iniziato coi lezioni di canto. Da ragazzina cantavo Lirica e Musical Theatre e partecipavo a vari spettacoli e concerti. A 13 anni ho preso in mano la chitarra, e da lì è iniziata la passione per la Musica Rock. Ho cominciato a scrivere le mie canzoni e formare le prime band e da quando ho conosciuto il mio produttore Lex Mars qualche anno fa mi sono dedicata seriamente e creare un progetto di rilievo internazionale”.
You are a Singer, tell us about how you first got interested in music? “Music has always been of the utmost importance in my life. I started playing the piano when I was five years old and shortly afterwards I started singing lessons. As a teen I sang Opera and Musical Theatre and I participated in lots of shows and concerts. At 13 I picked up the Guitar and fell in love with Rock Music. I started writing songs and forming my first bands, and then when I met my producer Lex Mars a few years ago, I seriously devoted myself to creating an International Level musical project”..
Quali sono i generi che fai? “Io faccio il genere Glam-Pop – E’ un genere creato da me e mio produttore Lex Mars che è una mix tra il Glam Rock anni 80, il Pop Commerciale moderno e un filo di EDM. In alcuni pezzi c’è anche del Rap, sempre in combinazione con del sano Pop-Rock quindi è un genere tutto nostro ma sempre molto mainstream e con un sound che può arrivare a tutti”.
What are your Genres? “My genre is Glam-Pop – it’s a genre created by me and my producer Lex Mars, and it’s a mix between 80’s Glam Rock, modern Commercial Pop and a tiny bit of EDM. In some songs there’s also some Rap, but always in combination with the Pop-Rock sound. So it’s our own genre, but it’s very mainstream and it’s a sound that anyone can understand”.
Quanta importanza ha la musica nella tua vita? “La musica è la cosa più importante nella mia vita, senza di lei non potrei vivere. In ogni momento della mia giornata o ascolto la musica, o suono qualcosa, o canto o scrivo. Non sto mai zitta, faccio impazzire tutti cantando sempre e ovunque anche nei luoghi più inappropriati”.
How Important is Music in Your Life? “Music is the most important thing in my life, I couldn’t live without it. In every moment of my day I’m either listening to music, playing something, writing something, or just randomly singing. I never shut up, I drive everyone crazy by singing everywhere and anywhere even in the most inappropriate places”.
Hai una casa discografica di riferimento? “Al momento sono prodotta dalla Superstar Productions, azienda fondata da me e il produttore Lex Mars, e curiamo la musica, la produzione, l’immagine, i video, i live e la promozione, insomma facciamo tutto noi. Abbiamo avuto varie offerte da Etichette, incluso Major italiane, ma noi abbiamo intenzione di avere un contratto con un Major Americana, quindi lavoriamo per arrivare a questo obbiettivo tra breve”.
Do you have a Label? “At the moment I’m produced by Superstar Productions, a production company founded by me and producer Lex Mars, we take care of the Music, the production, the image, the videos, the live shows and the promotion, basically we do everything. We have had various offers from different Labels, including Major Italian Labels, but our intention is to sign with an American Major Label, so we are working towards reaching that objective in the near future”.
Quali sono i tuoi hobby? “Guidare. Sono appassionata di macchine e moto e se non fossi una musicista, sarei stata la prima pilota femmina della Formula Uno (sesta ndr). L’autostrada di notte, alta velocità, senza meta, è il mio hangout preferito. E poi leggere, sono una nerd anche se non si direbbe e vorrei ci fosse il tempo di leggere ogni libro buono che sia mai stato scritto”.
What are your Hobbies? “Driving. I adore Cars and Motorbikes and if I wasn’t a musician, I would have been the first female Formula 1 Driver (6th ndr). The highway at night, high speed without a destination, is my favourite hangout. Also reading, I’m such a nerd even though you wouldn’t think so, and I wish there was enough time to read all the good books that have ever been written”.
Qual è il tuo colore preferito? “Non è molto difficile indovinarlo – sono due – Viola e Nero. Ho i capelli viola e adoro il trucco viola, ma per tutto il resto (vestiti, accessori, auto, telefoni, qualunque cosa) preferisco l’eleganza del classico nero”.
What is your favourite colour? “It’s not very hard to guess – Purple and Black. I have Purple hair, and love Purple makeup, but for everything else (Clothes, Accessories, Cars, Phones, anything) I prefer the elegance of Classic Black”.
Qual è il tuo rapporto con il cibo? “Adoro mangiare, anche troppo, e devo sempre stare attenta a non esagerare. Però sono vegetariana da quando ho 16 anni, perché amo gli animali e non mi sembra una cosa giusta mangiarli”.
What is your relationship with food like? “I love food, and I always need to be careful to not eat too much. However I’ve been vegetarian since I was 16 years old because I love animals and I don’t think it’s right to eat them. Plus it’s healthier too”.
Piatto preferito? “Macedonia di fragole, frutti di bosco, pesca, mango e melone con champagne”.
Favourite food? “Fruit salad with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peach, mango and melon with champagne”.
Qual è il capo di vestiario che ami di più e quello di meno? “La giacca di pelle è la mia preferita, mentre mi piace veramente poco tutto la lingerie e qualunque cosa fiorita o troppo effeminata. Sono un maschiaccio nel cuore e vorrei sempre vestirmi come tale”.
What’s your favourite and least favourite item of clothing? “My Leather jacket is my favourite item of clothing. As for my least favourite I guess it’s lingerie and anything to flowery or excessively feminine. I’m a tomboy at heart and I’d always like to dress like one”.
Scarpe basse o tacchi? “I tacchi ahimè sono costretta a portarli per il mio lavoro, ma li odio profondamente. Fuori dal contesto di lavoro sono sempre con scarpe basse, o meglio ancora – scalza!”.
High Heels or No heels? “I unfortunately have to wear high heels for my job, but I absolutely hate them. Outside of work I always wear low heeled shoes, trainers or even better – I go barefoot”.
Un accessorio che non manca mai quando esci da casa? “Le cigarette contano? 😀 Oppure la bandana, in testa, al collo o legata alla vita, ma c’è sempre, mi richiama la libertà e lo spirito Rock’n’roll degli anni 70 e 80”.
An Accessory that you always have with you when you leave the house? “Do Cigarettes count? 😀 Or a Bandana, on my head, around my neck or tied around my waist, I’ve always got one somewhere around me cause they remind me of the freedom and the Rock’n’roll spirit of the 70s and 80s”.
Ti piace viaggiare o sei una sedentaria? “Viaggiare assolutamente! Non supporto la vita sedentaria, se non sono sempre in giro impazzisco. Ho viaggiato tanto nella mia vita e ho vissuto in varie posti diversi, ormai sono in Italia da qualche anno e sento già il desiderio di trasferirmi in un posto nuovo. Non potrei vivere tutta la mia vita nella stessa città o nello stesso paese, morirei di noia, idealmente prima di morire avrò vissuto in ogni paese del mondo (o quasi) ”.
Do you like to Travel or do you prefer a Sedentary Lifestyle? “I love to travel. I can’t stand a sedentary lifestyle, if I’m not always on the move I go crazy. I have travelled a lot in my life and I’ve lived in lots of different places. I’ve been in Italy for just a few years now and I already feel the desire to move to somewhere new. I could definitely not live all my life in the same City or the same Country, I would die of boredom. Ideally before I die I’d like to have lived in every single country in the world! ”.
Quale sarebbe la tua città ideale per vivere? “Los Angeles. E’ la città della musica, della moda, per lavoro e contatti è meraviglioso. E c’è il clima che è troppo perfetto e le persone sono molto aperti mentalmente. Ma poi anche Londra, la mia città, mi manca da morire la sua dinamicità e bellezza e la sensazione unica di sentirsi <<a casa>>. Sono una zingara nata, ma anche le zingare hanno un posto dove si sentono più a casa”.
What is your Ideal City to live in? “Los Angeles. It’s the City of Music, of Fashion, for work and contacts it’s fabulous. And there’s the perfect climate and the fact that the people are very open minded. London too, my city, I miss it’s lifestyle and beauty and the unique sensation of feeling <<at home>> I’m a born Gypsy but even a Gypsy has a place where she feels more at home”.
Ultima domanda, sogno nel cassetto che desideri realizzare? “Non ho sogni nel cassetto – i miei sogni sono pochi ma grandi e rigorosamente fuori dal cassetto. Ci sto lavorando ogni secondo della mia vita per realizzarli e sono fiduciosa che i risultati arrivano presto. Sai come dicono… Meglio un giorno da leoni.. 😉 ”.
Last question, is there a secret dream you’d like to realise? “I don’t have any secret dreams – my dreams are big and definitely not a secret. I work everyday of my life to realise them and I trust that the results will come soon. You know how they say… Better a day as a Lion… :)”.
