Questa prestigiosa mostra internazionale d\u2019arte contemporanea e design<\/strong> della citt\u00e0 medicea \u00e8 un\u2019esposizione culturale che si distingue dalle altre biennali per il suo format. Attraverso un ricco programma<\/strong> di appuntamenti collaterali quali conferenze, mostre, performance, proiezioni <\/strong>e iniziative didattiche<\/strong>, la biennale offre diverse opportunit\u00e0 di incontro tra artisti e visitatori, che possono confrontarsi su vari aspetti dell\u2019arte e della cultura, con una particolare attenzione al tema centrale dell\u2019edizione in corso.<\/p>\n

Quello scelto per l\u2019edizione 2025 \u00e8 \u201cThe Sublime Essence of Light and Darkness. Concepts of Dualism and Unity in Contemporary Art and Design<\/em>\u201d, dedicato al primordiale ed eterno connubio tra luce e oscurit\u00e0, da sempre al centro della ricerca artistica, scientifica, filosofica e letteraria<\/strong>. <\/strong>La XV Florence Biennale annovera in concorso le seguenti categorie artistiche: Arte ceramica<\/strong>, Arte digitale<\/strong>, Arte e Design del gioiello<\/strong>, Arte Tessile e Fiber Art<\/strong>, Disegno<\/strong>, Grafica d’arte e Calligrafia<\/strong>, Fotografia<\/strong>, Installazione d’arte<\/strong>, Mixed Media<\/strong>, Performance Art<\/strong>, Pittura<\/strong>, Scultura<\/strong>, Video Art<\/strong> con la partecipazione di centinaia di artisti provenienti da oltre 80 Paesi e 5 continenti<\/strong>. PRESENTAZIONE DEL FORMAT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

La Florence Biennale, fondata nel 1997 da Pasquale e Piero Celona<\/strong> insieme a un comitato di artisti, curatori e critici d\u2019arte, viene diretta da Jacopo Celona<\/strong>, affiancato dall\u2019event manager e curatore Giovanni Cordoni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ogni edizione si svolge su 11.000 metri<\/strong> quadrati<\/strong> di terreno e si avvale della partecipazione di circa 600 artisti<\/strong> provenienti da oltre 80 Paesi <\/strong>con pi\u00f9 di 1.500 opere<\/strong>, selezionati con cura per garantire una straordinaria variet\u00e0 di stili. Tra questi, diversi special guests<\/strong> vengono invitati a partecipare per la loro rilevanza nel panorama artistico internazionale. Oltre ad offrire un ampio calendario <\/strong>di mostre tematiche<\/strong>, progetti speciali, ospiti d\u2019onore <\/strong>e prestigiose anteprime nazionali<\/strong>, la Florence Biennale consegna 2 premi<\/strong> alla carriera dedicati alle categorie di arte e design.<\/p>\n

Gli artisti espositori che si distinguono per le opere in concorso nelle categorie artistiche di riferimento ricevono il Premio Internazionale \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d<\/strong>, assegnato da una Giuria Internazionale<\/strong> costituita da personalit\u00e0 di rilievo del mondo dell\u2019arte e della cultura. Questo riconoscimento \u00e8 intitolato cos\u00ec al fine di ricordare e omaggiare Lorenzo de\u2019 Medici<\/strong>, detto \u201cil Magnifico\u201d, per sottolineare la fiorentinit\u00e0 della manifestazione e per connetterla idealmente alla sua importante storia artistica nella figura emblematica del grande mecenate e promotore delle Arti del Rinascimento.<\/p>\n

Questo premio \u00e8 affiancato dal Premio \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d alla Carriera<\/strong> \u2013 destinato a interpreti e istituzioni di cui siano emersi particolari meriti artistici o contributi al mondo della cultura \u2013 e dal Premio \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d<\/strong> del Presidente<\/strong>, che viene conferito agli artisti a cui viene riconosciuto un particolare merito nello sviluppo e diffusione dell\u2019arte contemporanea odierna, a discrezione e giudizio del Presidente della Florence Biennale Pasquale Celona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fra i premiati alla Carriera per l\u2019arte delle passate edizioni ricordiamo\u00a0Marina Abramovi\u0107<\/strong> (2009), Gustavo Aceves <\/strong>(2019), Refik Anadol<\/strong> (2019), Sauro Cavallini <\/strong>(in memoriam<\/em>, 2017), David Hockney<\/strong> (2003), Christo & Jeanne-Claude<\/strong> (2005), Ferrari & Pininfarina<\/strong> (2003), Gilbert & George<\/strong> (2007), Arata Isozaki <\/strong>(2017), Anish Kapoor <\/strong>(2013), Michelangelo Pistoletto<\/strong> (2021), Oliviero Toscani<\/strong> (2021), Franco Zeffirelli <\/strong>(2019) e David LaChapelle<\/strong> (2023).<\/p>\n

Per la 4\u00b0 volta consecutiva, una sezione sar\u00e0 dedicata anche al mondo del design<\/strong>. Questa recente introduzione ha assunto un valore particolarmente significativo nell\u2019anno in cui si \u00e8 celebrato il 500esimo anniversario della morte di Leonardo da Vinci<\/strong>, il cui genio \u00e8 da sempre associato alla progettualit\u00e0 tecnico-scientifica, oltre che artistica. \u00c8 proprio a questa grande personalit\u00e0 che sono intitolati i premi della sezione design.<\/p>\n

Ai migliori designer espositori nelle 6 categorie, viene conferito il Premio Internazionale \u201cLeonardo da Vinci\u201d per il Design<\/strong>, assegnato come per la sezione arte da una Giuria Internazionale composta da eminenti personalit\u00e0 del settore.<\/p>\n

Il Premio Internazionale \u201cLeonardo da Vinci\u201d alla Carriera<\/strong> viene conferito a persone e\/o organizzazioni che si siano distinte con i loro lavori dando un importante contributo alla creativit\u00e0 e all\u2019innovazione.<\/p>\n

Infine, ai Designers cui viene riconosciuto un particolare merito nello sviluppo e diffusione del Design \u00e8 destinato il Premio \u201cLeonardo da Vinci\u201d del Presidente<\/strong>, a discrezione e giudizio del Presidente della Florence Biennale Pasquale Celona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Questo riconoscimento mi d\u00e0 anche la possibilit\u00e0 di creare una mostra a Firenze per la Biennale e non vedo l’ora di esplorare il tema di quest’anno su dualismo e unit\u00e0 attraverso la mia arte e riflettere su quegli opposti che non esistono l\u2019uno senza l’altro: luce e oscurit\u00e0, bene e male, ordine e caos.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

The Florence Biennale<\/strong> announces its eagerly awaited 15th Edition<\/strong>, which will take place at the Fortezza da Basso<\/strong> in Florence from 18 to 26 October 2025<\/strong>. This prestigious international exhibition of contemporary art and design<\/strong> in the Medici city is a cultural exhibition that differs from other biennials in its format. In fact, the protagonists as exhibitors are the artists and designers themselves, selected after careful evaluation by the Curatorial Committee. The aim of this innovative formula is to provide a valuable and effective opportunity<\/strong> for all artists to present their work directly to cultural operators and the general public, in an independent and multilingual context<\/strong> that spontaneously creates the opportunity and conditions for direct dialogue<\/strong> and possible future developments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Through a rich programme<\/strong> of side events such as lectures, exhibitions, performances, screenings and educational initiatives<\/strong>, the biennial offers various opportunities for artists and visitors to meet and discuss various aspects of art and culture, with a focus on the central theme of the current edition.<\/p>\n

The one chosen for the 2025 edition is ‘The Sublime Essence of Light and Darkness. Concepts of Dualism and Unity in Contemporary Art and Design’<\/em>, dedicated to the primordial and eternal union between light and darkness, which has always been at the centre of artistic, scientific, philosophical and literary research. The 15th Florence Biennale includes the following artistic categories in competition: Ceramic Art, Digital Art, Jewellery Art and Design, Textile and Fiber Art, Drawing, Graphic Art and Calligraphy, Photography, Art Installation, Mixed Media, Performance Art, Painting, Sculpture, Video Art<\/strong> with the participation of hundreds of artists from over 80 countries and 5 continents<\/strong>.
\nOn the other hand, the categories for design are: Architektur und St\u00e4dtebau, Industrie- und Produktdesign, Mode- und Schmuckdesign, Innenarchitektur, Kommunikations- und Grafikdesign, Technologie und Game Design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

PRESENTATION OF THE FORMAT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Florence Biennale, founded in 1997 by Pasquale and Piero Celona<\/strong> together with a committee of artists, curators and art critics, is directed by Jacopo Celona<\/strong>, assisted by event manager and curator Giovanni Cordoni<\/strong>. Each edition takes place on 11,000 square metres<\/strong> and is attended by some 600 artists<\/strong> from over 80 countries <\/strong>with more than 1.500 works<\/strong>, carefully selected to ensure an extraordinary variety of styles. Among them, several special guests<\/strong> are invited to participate due to their relevance in the international art scene. In addition to offering an extensive calendar<\/strong> of thematic exhibitions, special projects, special guests of honour <\/strong>and prestigious national premieres<\/strong>, the Florence Biennale confers 2<\/strong> Awards<\/strong> for lifetime achievement<\/strong> in the categories of art and design.<\/p>\n

The artists who stand out for their works in competition in the relevant artistic categories receive the \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d International Prize<\/strong>, awarded by an International Jury<\/strong> made up of prominent personalities from the world of art and culture. This award is so named in order to commemorate and pay homage to Lorenzo de’ Medici<\/strong>, known as \u2018the Magnificent\u2019, to underline the Florentine nature of the event and to ideally connect it to its important artistic history in the emblematic figure of the great patron and promoter of the Arts of the Renaissance. This prize is flanked by the \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d Award for Lifetime Achievement<\/strong> – which is honoured to performers and institutions that have shown particular artistic merit or contributions to the world of culture – and the \u201cLorenzo il Magnifico\u201d President’s Award<\/strong>, which is awarded to artists who are recognised for particular merit in the development and dissemination of contemporary art, at the discretion and judgement of the President of the Florence Biennale, Pasquale Celona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
